When the inevitable meetings go south there is a good chance you can point your finger at one of these three pillars. These three pillars are also to blame for meeting home runs.
Wield them like your helmet, shield and sword. Simple and rich in wisdom.
1.Have Authority
Be seen as the expert. Mention portfolio items that may impact. Explain you or your company history. Your smart and have value to bring so say what you mean don’t litter is with ‘sorrys’ or ‘maybes’ and never end a sentence with ‘…I think.”
2.Be Sharp
Be sharp as a tack. This is with your appearance, your responses, knowing your material and end goal. Be clear with the message. Get them answers. Speak clearly. Be timely and ready.
3.Enthusiasm!
Enthusiasm is contagious just like any other energy. You can get people dancing by simple dancing, you can get laughter, tension, awkwardness and enthusiasm by being and doing these things yourself first. People want to be stoked. Do them a favour.
This was taught to me by a high preforming member of a billion-dollar company founded in 1922 and I wanted to share with you.
